Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions:

Is the ACA Office open during the campus closure?

At this time, the ACA office is available by phone (623-974-4959) and phones are being answered. You can also reach out to us via our website at While the campus is closed, however, we are not able to have any walk-ins or visitors.

How will parents get spring pictures if they already ordered?

At this time, the Lifetouch offices have not been deemed essential by the government so they are closed until further notice. When the stay at home order has been lifted they have mentioned they will open their offices back up and reach out to their schools. Once we hear from them, we will notify our families that already ordered pictures.

Are we able to get a graduation cap and gown for the kindergarteners for personal picture use?

If families are interested in ordering a kindergarten cap and gown for their own personal picture use here is the ordering information. You will have to handle ordering and payment on your own at the following link:

How long will Grab and Go last?

Per ADE, ACA is committed to serving Grab and Go through the remainder of the school year. We are waiting to hear for further guidance for the summer months.

Promotions and Graduations

Will ACA still have a kindergarten promotion in the future?

At this time due to all government mandated precautions we are unable to hold our usual Kindergarten promotion ceremony. Unfortunately, we are also unable to hold a “make-up” ceremony. We are working with our Kindergarten staff to determine some alternative celebrations for the students and parents.

Will ACA have some type of 8th grade promotion in the future?

At this time, due to all government mandated precautions we are unable to hold our usual 8th grade promotion activities. We are also unable to hold any “make-up” ceremonies. As we work our way through the dynamics of distance learning the middle school staff will begin to brainstorm ideas of possible ways to celebrate the 8th grade class in a meaningful and memorable way.

Field Trips:

Will I get a refund for the field trips that were paid for during March and April?

Office staff will begin reaching out families regarding payments made. We will let families know whether refunds apply to you or if the money was applied to a balance owed. You should receive a call by Wednesday April 8th.

What about the end of year 8th grade field trip?

Due to the current guidelines we won’t be able to hold our 8th grade field trip and it will be cancelled. We will first apply any money paid to any unpaid lunch or enrichment balances. Someone from our office will begin reaching out to all families regarding payments made to give you details on refunds if they apply to you, or if your money was applied to a balance owed. You should receive a call by Wednesday April 8th.

What about the Middle School Washington DC Trip?

Our teacher travel rep will be reaching out to the trip families once we hear from our travel rep. Please reach out to Mrs. Salazar directly with any questions

Is the school still planning on having the production of “Lion King” this summer?

At this time ACA has not made a decision for the “Lion King” musical this summer. We will work in conjunction with the federal, state and local agencies, along with Arizona Department of Education to determine if we will need to postpone the production. We anticipate having an official answer in May.


Enrichment Balances, can we get a refund?

We are currently coming up with a plan regarding Enrichment Balances. We will communicate with these families individually by phone. You should hear from our office by Wednesday April 1st.

Lunch Account Balances

Any lunch balances will rolled over to the next school year 2020-2021. If you are not returning to ACA you can request refund by contacting the front office.

Distance Learning:

If I am having technical issues during distance learning what do I do?

If you need technical assistance you can reach out first to your teacher. If your teacher can not help you he/she will reach out to see if our technology department can assist. Always reach out to your student’s teacher and he/she will assist the best we can.

What if my child misses a Zoom/live lesson with their teacher?

The lesson will be posted for Grades K-5 in a link on your Class Dojo or Remind. In addition, within the week each grade level will have a personalized web page via to assist parents for locating all information for your child’s academic needs. For grades 4-8 the lessons will be located in Teams. To assist parents of students in grades 4th and 5th will have both the website for parents and Teams for the students.

Is my child required to attend the live Zoom classes?

No, the live classes are an option as well as accessing the recorded lessons. We are encouraging students to attend the live sessions if possible, in order to support students learning, create some social interaction with their peers and teacher. ACA completely understands attending live sessions at times may not be feasible for some families.

Is my child’s work being graded?

YES! ACA is taking grades, monitoring each child’s progress and here to support and provide assistance during the teacher’s virtual office hours, e-mail and by phone. Although distance learning is new ACA is in full swing of being committed to continuing the learning for all of our students. Please encourage your child to take this as serious as he/she does when in class.

My family does not have internet and the alternative that ACA worked with us on don’t work. What should I do? If you have not been able to access internet, please contact the ACA Front Office. We will provide printed materials for the student. The parent can arrange to pick up and drop off during our Grab and Go hours of 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Will the work that my child is completing online count towards them being promoted to the next grade for the 2020-2021 school year?

Yes, in accordance with ADE’s guideline’s ACA is providing full implementation of alternative online education where students are able to access current grade level material and are being assessed on their progress on this material. Governor Ducey has signed into legislation that students will be able to finish the 2019-2020 school year regardless of school facility closures.

Does my child have to complete each lesson/assignments each day? We recognize families have competing priorities right now and several children can be using a single device. The goal is for each student to complete the assignments within the week assigned. ACA staff suggests trying to complete assignments on a daily basis in order to not fall behind.

As a parent I am confused on what to do each day for assignments? Please email your teacher or attend their Zoom office hours. We will ensure each parent and student is supported the best way we can. Everyone is working to make the transition as smooth as possible. In addition, grades K-5 will have a website specific to their grade level. I am having trouble getting a hold of my child’s teacher, what do I do? Please feel free to email one of the administrators. Mrs. Beckman,, Mr. Sandoval,, or Mrs. Henderson at We will work with you and the staff member to resolve any technical issues or problems.

Middle School Sports:

Why am I bringing in my uniform?

All spring sports athletes will be contacted this week to bring in their uniforms so we can clean and disinfect. If you were unable to already drop off your child's uniform Mr. Rios will be in contact with parents.

Will we still have Spring Sports when school resumes?

The Charter Athletic Association (CAA) has closed sports for the 2019-2020 school year per Governor Ducey’s announcement of all schools remaining closed with Distance Learning.

Will I get a refund for Spring Sports?

ACA will be working with the CAA league to determine refund amounts. Mr. Rios will be in contact with all athletes regarding refunds. All 6th and 7th grade athletes will have the option to take a credit for next years sports. 8th grade athletes will have the option to donate the fee to the sports program or get a refund once their uniforms are returned.

Who will contact me from ACA for sports and spring pictures?
