ACA Prepares to Launch Integrated Academy of Studies

Since the day Arizona Charter Academy (ACA) first opened, the teachers and staff have always strived to offer innovative learning programs that inspire students to want to learn.

Next month, on the first day of school, ACA will officially launch its Integrated Academy of Studies program for the middle school students.

Melissa Montenegro, Enrollment and Marketing Manager at ACA, said the Integrated Academy of Studies was custom developed by the dedicated staff to empower students to discover their passions and interests as early as possible. Students can then continue to deepen and develop their skills in high school and career and technical education programs, which will provide them with an advantage for academic success as well as college scholarships.

“Students will participate in hands on, engaging and real life elective coursework in the areas of civics, business, the arts and STEM,” she said, adding that each of these four academic areas will be referred to as a “house of study.”

“Our students will spend the first half of their day in their general education classes and the second part of their day will be comprised of their electives which all fall under the umbrella of one of the houses of studies.”

The Integrated Academy of Studies will offer a variety of interesting electives, Montenegro said; these include App Creators, Computer Science for Innovators and Makers, Show Choir, Production Design, Street Law, Leadership and Social Activism, Office 365, Principles of Economics and more.

The Integrated Academy of Studies program will have its own logo and branding, Montenegro said, and the middle school students will also now be in a new building that was recently finished on the ACA campus.

“We also have new uniform options for our middle school students that will allow them to have an even bigger sense of belonging into our middle school program,” she said.

“They can still wear their former uniform styles; we are just offering another option for them to choose from, that belongs to only them.”

Montenegro said she and the rest of the teachers and staff are looking forward to the first day of school and the official launch of the Integrated Academy of Studies.

“We are excited about the new building, the new uniforms and this new program that will allow our middle schoolers to really grow and learn as students.”
