Family Literacy Night took place on January 26, 2017 3-5 p.m. at the Small cafeteria
Parents and students were invited to learn and practice strategies to increase reading fluency and comprehension. Homework help tips were featured as well. More than 112 guest students and parents also shared in free-reading time together with a few hundred ACA library books available in book baskets. Kindergarten through fifth graders could choose books at their reading levels to read to their parents, or to younger siblings. In many cases, favorite family picture books and graphic novels were enjoyed by readers of all ages. Our ACA reading specialist had personal conversations with a number of parents, guiding them on how to expand their students’ literacy skills through meaningful, authentic activities.
